

Daisy Anne Day, age 87, went to be with Lord on December 25, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Anne was born on January 6, 1933 in Franklin, Texas to Daisy Guttery Smith and William R. Smith. She attended grade school through high school in Austin, Texas and briefly attended the University of Texas in Austin. She eventually received an Associate of Arts degree from San Antonio Community College.
Her early work experience included being a stenographer for the Texas Employment Commission, kindergarten teacher at Castle Hills FBC, secretary of Occidental Chemical Company and 40 years as Executive/Personal Secretary for Marshall T. Steves, Sr., and Mrs. Patsy Galt Steves. She was proficient in the art of shorthand, organizing major events, bookkeeping, and scheduling.
She enjoyed travelling with her husband Willie, playing bridge with friends and family and serving as a greeter at Northeast Baptist Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Anne is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Jane Hairgrove; brother, Walter Smith; and her husband of 35 years, William “Willie” S. Day. She is survived by her sons, Col. (Ret.) Bryce G. Whisler III (Priscilla) of Kansas City, Missouri, and Chris E. Whisler (Leigh Ann) of San Antonio, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, January 14, 2021, at Porter Loring Mortuary North.
