Daniel A. Bartek

He served active duty in the Navy 1958 – 1962 and then served in the reserves. Dan was with Western Electric and AT&T for over 20 years. He remained active after retirement as an avid tennis player – his team won a USTA National 4.0 Championship in 1994 and he was also an USTA umpire. Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed being an organic gardener and was an avid reader.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Mary Bartek; siblings, Joe Bartek, Ernie Bartek and Della Briggs; uncle, August Weidel and other aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dan is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Lynn Bartek; children, Kinda Nicholson, Ken Bartek and wife, Veronica; grandchildren, Jennifer Barbosa and husband, Mike, Dylan Bartek and Breanna Bartek; great-grandchildren, Marlee and Caleb Barbosa; sister, Ann Mullins; step-children, Joy Meltzer and husband, Brooks and Scott Newberry and wife, Ruth; step-grandchildren, Boyd, Ellen and Hayden Meltzer; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 11:30 a.m. at Northern Hills United Methodist Church, 3703 NE Loop 1604, San Antonio, TX 78247. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
