Daniel Hernandez Esquivel

Beloved San Antonio musician Daniel “Danny” Esquivel, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015. As a lead vocalist and guitarist, Danny began his musical career at the age of 8 and brought joy to many fans in the Alamo City. He performed with numerous bands including Electric Chamizal Band, Los Aventureros, Barrio Sound Band, Nando Aguilar and Brown Brandee, Danny and the Dreamerz, and closed out his career as a fixture with The OBG Band, with a final performance with The Westside Horns at Pueblo Hall on November 13, 2015. Danny overcame many obstacles during his battle with liver disease and diabetes, and we are comforted knowing that he is now resting peacefully. He is preceded in death by his father, Santiago V. Esquivel, wife of 26 years, Rachel Esquivel, wife of 10 years, Bertha Esquivel, and numerous family members and fellow musicians. He is survived by his mother, Marta H. Esquivel, sister, Cecilia Garcia, brothers, Tom, Marcelo, George, Abel, Enrique “Kike”, and Fernando, 8 children, Martha Perez, Yolanda Esquivel, Gina Arispe, Monica Sanchez, Cyndi Esquivel, Daniel Esquivel, Jr., David Esquivel, and Bobby Martinez; 37 grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. . Visitation will begin on Monday, January 04, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home on Tuesday, January 05, 2016 at 9:30 am for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Resurrection at St. Jude Catholic Church with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
