He was born in Hammond, Indiana to Steven and Anna Gill. A graduate of Indiana University with a degree in Business, he was the first and only college graduate in his family.
While on leave from the Army Air Corps in 1945, he married Betty, his wife of 59 1/2 years. He worked in personnel for Beatty Hospital in Indiana. He then moved to Colorado and for the next 20 years was head of personnel for the Colorado State Hospital.
In retirement, the family moved to San Antonio in 1997. Dan made friends in every group and neighborhood that he was a part of. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching sports of all kinds.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane Gill, and his son, Scott Douglas Gill.
He is survived by his son, Marc Gill and wife Carol of San Antonio and several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be held at Washington Park Cemetery in Indianapolis.
