I met Coach Dan Jr. only after he had been diagnosed with cancer. Ironically, he taught me so much about living life, while he himself was dying. For me, he modeled living each day with as much grace, joy, humility and love as possible. He showed me how important family and friends are; and how to enjoy every moment no matter how simple. His spirit will live on in the wind-swept and tousled manes of every horse whose hooves beat the earth; and his legacy will live on in each person whose life he touched.

To The Hernadez Family,
You are in our thoughts and prayers.I will always remember the good times that we had growing up with the boys around all the horses. Dan was a special friend that will never be forgotten.

I'm going to miss my chat buddy. I enjoyed every minute of my time with and around Dan and His son Dan jr. He was always good with the kids at the roping arena. and always lending a hand with out being asked. May God be with him and family.

As Bubba would say, that was many, many moons ago. He is the one who called me to make sure that I was aware. Dan and I met when he visited our riding club arena in Fountain Colorado. He wanted to know all about our club and said his son Dan might like to join. That was the first day of a wonderful fellowship with a great guy. He will be greatly missed not only by me but the Fountain Riding and Roping Club as a whole. Rest in peace dear friend and know you left behind a smile on friend's faces each time you are remembered.

I would like to send my condolences and prayers to the family of Dan Hernandez. It was a pleasure and an honor to know him. He never let you feel like a stranger and always had a funny story to tell you. He will be missed.

 Thanks for everything you taught me. While I am sad to see you go, I am proud that you were my father, and will strive every day to live by the principles you instilled in me, like honesty, courtesy, and the value of working smart. I prayed to God on how I could personally keep your memory alive every day, and what I could do to help others do the same. What resulted was the video we will see today. I know you are in heaven watching us, Dad, and I hope I made you proud.

We have wonderful memories of Uncle Jr. He graced us with his presence during holidays and our "fight nights" to watch boxing. He had a great sense of humor, making us laugh with his many jokes. Grandpa, I love you and miss you very much. Even though you can't read this, I know that you are getting it. I just want you to know that every day I think about you and that I will never forget you. Not a day goes by where I don't remember spending time with you. Even though it hurts that you are not here I still have all of the memories you left me with. Somehow, everything I do leads me back to you and I am not sorry. You taught me so much. Learning how to ride a horse, how to use my manners. . I can't even think of everything. You taught me that imagination was important, and that I could do anything if i put my mind to it. The least I owe you is to try my hardest at everything I do in all aspects of my life. You make me think of happy things. Even though I cry I know it is tears of happiness. The only thing that I could regret is that your not here to see me graduate, and go on with my life. I really wanted you to be here and one day see your great grandchildren. But i just want you to know that in everything I do I do it for you. I am sorry I could'nt bring myself to tell you all this in person but it hurt. I miss you so so much. I just want you to know that every day I miss that your not here. I am strong for myself because I know that tomorrow you won't be here. Minerva misses you too. My final though is that I don't want you to think that anyone ever regrets their time with you. You make us realize how close we can be. Again I will say I miss you.
