

Today, we take a moment to honor the life of Daniel Reyes, a man whose legacy is etched in the hearts and minds of all who knew him. Born on May 7, 1966, in the small town of American Falls, Idaho. His family of humble beginnings traveled from Texas to Idaho to Colorado as migrant field workers where Daniel learned what struggle and pain staking labor was. Daniel grew into a man of adventure, generosity, and thoughtfulness. His journey came to a peaceful close on October 16, 2024, in Houston, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family and friends. Daniel was the cherished son of Ramon Reyes and Maria Consejo Ramirez, both of whom predeceased him. He was a beloved brother to Ramon Reyes, Jr., Irma Martinez widow of Roberto D, Blanca E Ponce, wife to Samuel R, Sergio Reyes, and Javier Reyes, alongside his wife, Cynthia. Daniel was also an adored uncle and great-uncle to Andrew R Ponce and his fiancé Dr. Alexis K, Alexis Sergio Reyes, Amanda M and her fiancé Raul Flores, Kimberly A Reyes, Donovan J Reyes, and Marco A Ponce and Amari F Flores.
An alumnus of J.W. Nixon High School in Laredo, Texas class of 1982 graduating at age 16, Daniel carried his passion for learning and justice to Laredo State University, where he graduated with honors in 1986. His pursuit of excellence continued at the University of Houston Law School, culminating in his graduation in 1989 as one of the youngest to do so. Daniel's career was marked by a dedication to the law and the community he served. As an Assistant District Attorney in Brownsville, Texas, he exhibited a steadfast commitment to justice. Later, he ventured into private practice with the establishment of Daniel R. Reyes, Attorney at Law, in McAllen, Texas, where his reputation as a formidable yet compassionate lawyer grew beyond the courtroom. Daniel's interests painted the portrait of a man who embraced life with vigor. A world traveler, he embarked on adventures that spanned continents, each journey enriching his understanding of the world and its diverse cultures. His love for sports was apparent to anyone who knew him, as he enjoyed tennis, golf, and cycling, often participating in local clubs and events. Daniel's generosity extended beyond his immediate circle. He was a pillar of his family's community, particularly known for his charitable work with Catholic altar servers. He helped by contributing to fundraisers, church festivals, and was always ready to donate Christmas gifts to orphanages. As a true friend, Daniel also invested time in mentoring and guiding others, helping them navigate their careers and personal challenges.

He lived by these words, embracing each day as an opportunity for a new adventure and a chance to make a difference. Daniel Reyes will be remembered not just for his professional achievements but for the warmth and guidance he provided to everyone around him. His legacy is one of kindness, compassion, and an unyielding zest for life. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, we reflect on the impact he made and the void his passing leaves in our community. Daniel Reyes's life story is a testament to the enduring power of living a life filled with purpose, passion, and love for others. He will be profoundly missed, but the memories he created will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.
