Danny Lee Wright, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran, passed away on February 28, 2026, at the age of 78. Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Donald Oris Wright and Floye Ethel (Blalack) Wright, Dan lived a life marked by hard work, technical skill, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
A 1966 graduate of South Oak Cliff High School, Dan immediately enlisted in the United States Air Force in August of that year. He completed basic training at Lackland Air Force Base before serving two tours in Germany. As a Sergeant in the 322 Combat Support Group, Dan specialized in Cryptographic Communications. During his time overseas, he furthered his education at the University of Maryland’s Munich campus. He was honorably discharged in December 1968. While serving in Germany, Dan became a dedicated member of the Freemasons; he lived by the values of brotherly love, relief, and truth, eventually attaining the honor of Master Mason.
Dan found the love of his life, Patsy Lou, in a chance meeting at Wonderland Mall—she was working at Handy Craft, and he was at RadioShack. After a romantic proposal at the Tower of the Americas, they were married on January 10, 1976, in San Antonio, beginning a partnership that would span half a century.
Professionally, Dan was an entrepreneur and a leader. After owning Star Crest Moulding distribution business, he returned to RadioShack, where he spent over 30 years. He rose to the rank of District Manager, overseeing more than 100 stores across Texas. He concluded his professional journey in Real Estate before his retirement.
Dan was the definition of a "family man". During his son Travis’s eight years at Texas A&M University, Dan remained a constant and loving presence. He made the trip to College Station at least once a month, not just to see his son, but to take Travis and his friends out to dinner—a gesture of kindness and support that his son’s peers and wife will never forget.
The Wright family also shared a deep passion for showing Quarter Horses. Their most cherished memory took place in 2001 in Gladstone, New Jersey, where Dan watched with immense pride as Travis competed on the United States Equestrian Team, winning a silver medal aboard his horse, Ransom.
In his leisure time, Dan was a man of many talents and simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, a skilled woodworker, and a formidable opponent at the domino table or a game of corn hole.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Patsy Lou Wright of Boerne, Texas; his son and daughter-in-law, Travis Lee and Michele Lucile Wright of San Antonio, Texas; his grandchildren, Brayden Thomas and Allison Lucile Wright; his brothers, James Oris Wright and wife Cathi Wright of Como, Texas, and Larry Donald Wright of Decatur, Texas; his former sister-in-law and loving supporter of family, Dixie Martin.
Please join us as we celebrate the life of Danny Lee Wright, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and veteran.
