

Daravene Daniel Thomas, 84, passed away peacefully on the morning of August 3, 2024 in Keller, Texas. She was born on July 27, 1940 in Austin, Texas to parents Garth Ward Daniel and Mary Chauveaux Daniel. She attended Austin schools and was a proud graduate of Austin High School, class of 1958. After high school she attended The University of Texas in Austin where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She completed a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. On June 3, 1966 she married Edward Lee Thomas and they had one daughter, Stacie.
Daravene began a career as a home economics teacher at Lanier High School but chose to stay home when her daughter was born. She was extremely involved in her San Antonio community and she and Ed entertained fellow teachers and coaches on numerous occasions. She was active in area garden clubs, bridge clubs, and was an active member at Coker United Methodist church. At Coker church, she was a member of her beloved Questors Sunday school class where she also played the piano on occasion. Daravene deeply cared for her extended family and had fond memories of summers spent in Claude, TX on the Chauveaux family farm with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She enjoyed volunteering with the PTA and especially with the moms of the Winston Churchill High School tennis team where she made lifelong friends.
After Ed passed away in 2000, Daravene embarked on numerous trips across the country and the world. She traveled with close friends and made many more along the way. Daravene had a love for God’s word and participated in numerous Bible studies. She was always an avid sports fan, cheering on her Texas Longhorns and San Antonio Spurs. However, when her grandsons began to play sports, she took it to a new level and was their biggest fan. In 2016, Daravene moved to Keller, TX to be close to her daughter and family.
Daravene was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Thomas. She is survived by her daughter Stacie Wrehe and son-in-law Scott Wrehe of Keller, TX, grandsons Thomas Wrehe and Jonathan Wrehe, her sister Deanna Matthew of Austin, TX, and nieces Laura Matthew (Michael Bannister), Rebecca Atkins, and Melissa Yarrington.
Visitation will take place Thursday, August 8, 2024 from 5:00-6:00 P.M.

Daravene gave generously to many causes close to her heart. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Coker Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
