Darlene Newsome, 64, of San Antonio, Texas, passed away unexpectedly at home on April 8, 2025. Born in Glendale, California, Darlene was raised in San Antonio, where she spent most of her life building a beautiful home and a close-knit family.
Darlene was the heart of her family. As co-owner of Newsome Enterprises, she worked side-by-side with her husband, Paul and son Keith. Her true love and joy was her family—especially her grandchildren, whom she absolutely lived for.
A devoted wife, Darlene poured her heart into caring for her home and loved ones. She was a talented cook, a meticulous homemaker, and the ultimate host. Gatherings always filled with more food, love, and thoughtfulness than anyone could have imagined. She never arrived empty-handed. Her kind, generous spirit touched every person who knew her.
To her grandchildren, Darlene wasn’t just “Nana”—she was their best friend, their biggest fan, and their safe place. She was always there for every moment, whether in person, on FaceTime, or sending thoughtful surprises “just because.” Her bond with each of them was one-of-a-kind and will be cherished forever. She gave the gift of her time, her presence, and her unwavering love always saying “her time with them is a privilege, not an obligation”.
Darlene was deeply thoughtful and selfless; helping out in countless ways, never needing to be asked or recognized.
Darlene never missed a chance to make others feel special—celebrating birthdays with thoughtful gifts or homemade cakes, and sending flowers or little surprises on holidays just to show she cared. She was the kind of person you could talk to about anything—an incredible listener with a comforting presence, kind words, and a heart always open to others.
She also loved to travel—especially to the beach, her happy place. If she could’ve lived with her toes in the sand full-time, she would’ve.
Darlene was preceded in death by her Mother and Father; sister, Dawn Goad; and beloved son, Blayne Newsome. She is survived by her loving husband, Paul Newsome; her son, Keith Newsome, his wife Jacquelyn, their children Hollie and Kayden; her daughter, Amber Newsome and Jared Murrell, their daughter Madelyn; her daughter-in-law, Desiree Newsome, and Paisley, the daughter of Blayne; and her brother, Dennis Huntley.
A memorial service to celebrate Darlene’s life will be held on May 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Sunset North Funeral Home, San Antonio, Texas. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
Attire: Please feel free to dress casually, but respectfully—no need for traditional black. Darlene would have wanted everyone to be comfortable.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting to donate to Arms of Hope Charity, one of Darlene's favorite charities.
