Darryl was born April 4, 1970, in San Antonio, Texas to Stafford Talley Johnson (SGT) retired and Bonnie Lee Thomas Chandler.
He is the youngest son and brother of 12 siblings. He was blessed to be the beloved husband of Amanda Johnson and a father of two lovely daughters Lola Rose and Olivia Daryl Johnson. Darryl received his formal education in the North East Independent School District, where he graduated from James Madison High School. He furthered his education by receiving numerous certifications to perform his job as a Bio Technician, for EMSAR of Texas, for almost 20 years.
Darryl was a self-taught musician who had a musical ear that allowed him to pick up any instrument and wow his audience. He was the lead singer of some of the most popular bands in the San Antonio area. He had a natural creativity that extended into all facets of his life ranging from gardening, home improvement projects and had knack for refurbishing anything that caught his eye.
In August 2000, he met and fell in love with Amanda Nickles, and on May 7, 2004, Darryl and Amanda were united in Holy Matrimony. They lived life to the fullest giving full dedication to family. They took their vows very seriously, till death did they part. Darryl was well known and dedicated his life to the service of others. He was a true friend to so many; he was a confidant to all his family, friends and anyone else in need. He was a loving husband, the best father ever, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend and he cherished every relationship. Darryl met no strangers. Everyone was important to him.
He was a man who was full of life and he had compassion for so many; always encouraging the younger ones to stay on the right path not only by his words, but also leading by example. He supported and loved his family and was always there for gatherings, no matter the distance. He was the voice of love and encouragement always telling others to follow their dreams.
Darryl's life is best defined by the relationships he made along the way. His friends were many and he imparted words of wisdom to all whom had an ear to hear. Darryl was an unselfish person, always placing everyone else's needs above his own.
He always provided warm words of encouragement and always left you with his warm and beautiful smile. Darryl's spirit of giving was shown daily when he would call different family members just to say hello and that he loved you.
Darryl loved his employer, coworkers, and friends alike and considered them a family away from home. At the tender age of 45 years, Darryl Wayne Johnson received a new home, after he fought a brave and courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. He went from labor to reward. He was met on the celestial shores by his father, Stafford T. Johnson and his sister, Cynthia Chandler Bryant. 4:00 P.M.
PORTER LORING MORTUARY NORTH
Pastor Douglas Jackson will officiate.
Our prayers have all been answered.
I finally arrived.
The healing that had been delayed has now been realized.
No one's in a hurry.
There's no schedule to keep.
Cynthia and I are enjoying Jesus, just sitting at His feet.
If you could see me now, I'm walking streets of gold.
If you could see me now, I'm standing tall and whole.
If you could see me now, you'd know I've seen His face.
If you could see me now, you'd know the pain is erased.
If you could see me now.
You wouldn't want me to ever leave this place,
If you could only see me now.
