It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the death of Darryl Loggins, who died in his home unexpectedly at the age of 61 on October 20, 2022. Darryl was born on April 27th, 1961, in Pasadena, Texas. He leaves behind his wife of 35 years, Kathy, his two kids Jonathan (m. Brandi) and Jessica, his mother, Delores Durham, his sister, Debbie Cunningham, and many others who loved him deeply.
Darryl enjoyed spending his Saturdays watching college football and cheering on his kids’ alma matres, the SMU Mustangs and the Baylor Bears. He cheered on his own alma matre, the University of Houston Cougars as well, but with slightly less gusto. Darryl loved good Tex-Mex, good BBQ, and good seafood. He enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, and relaxing in his chair playing Animal Crossing with Kathy. We will always remember his love for Peanut M&M’s, his amazing home-cooked holiday meals, and his infamous “dad jokes.” He valued family, hard work, and treated others with kindness and generosity.
Darryl’s memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 30th at 1 pm. It will be held at Mission Burial Park North, located at 20900 IH-10 W San Antonio, TX 78257, in the chapel. There will be a graveside service immediately following for family only.
In lieu of flowers (which made him sneeze), donations can be made in Darryl’s honor to the American Heart Association, which has been very meaningful in the life of our family. Darryl and Kathy met while Darryl’s grandfather was recovering from complications from heart surgery and Kathy’s mother is the thriving recipient of a heart transplant over 15 years ago. Darryl had a huge heart and a deep love for his family.
