David Austin, a proud Navy veteran and respected architect, passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on February 23, 2025. David was born on October 24, 1938 in San Antonio, Texas to Gladys Pearl and Elmo Vivian Austin.
After serving in the United States Navy, David embarked on a distinguished career as an architect, working for several decades in San Antonio. In addition to his professional achievements, David had a deep passion for model trains, a hobby he cherished throughout his life. His love for trains was not just a pastime but a reflection of his meticulous nature and appreciation for the beauty of craftsmanship.
David is survived by his daughter, Michelle Workman; grandchildren, Sean Schoenert and Kristen Hahn; and great-grandchildren, Cohen Schoenert, and Kassie and Khloee Hahn. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine Austin; daughters, Kimberly Wanke and Candace Schoenert; granddaughter, Kelsey Munos; great-grandson, Camden Schoenert.
David will be missed.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at 10:00 AM at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 631 Utopia Lane, San Antonio, TX 78223.
