Thank you Col. Gold for making the 
world a better place.

We loved spending time with Dr. Gold, his stories were humorous, interesting and, filled with historical detail. We were thrilled to visit with him recently in July where he generously treated us to a lovely brunch. He was always very kind and loving towards our young children, Alexander and Sara. We are sad that his time has passed but we are very happy to celebrate his long and productive life with his family and friends. Thanks Dr. Gold, for the memories and fun times over the last 15 years or more! The Hunters

Heard about your Dad from Trisha. I am so sorry. I never met him, but his bio looked so impressive. It's hard to imagine the scope of time he lived and all he saw during his lifetime--from Model T's to the internet. I am sorry to communicate through Porter Loring, but I didn't have your personal email. 
I always think of our little reunion group--those of us who continue to return-and wonder how everyone is doing. I will be thinking of you more than usual in the next days and weeks.

Biga On The Banks.

Our condolences to Ruthie and the rest of the Gold family on the passing of Col. Gold last week. We are sorry we never had the honor of meeting him. Our first knowledge of his involvement in WWII was standing on the cliffs of Normandy with Ruthie, sharing her sadness and tears as she related to us that her father was there in the midst of the landings with the 101st. For him this was only the start of two difficult years that so many of them would later say so little about. They were the Greatest Generation. We see them passing from us so quickly now. They did so much and when it was done they asked for so little.. We have to be continually grateful.

I'm so sorry to learn of your father's recent death. I'm glad we got to visit about our dads during our last SMH reunion. I just lost my father at the age of 83, on June 6th, so I am aware of the painful loss you are feeling right now. You and your family have my deepest sympathy as you mourn the loss of your wonderful father. Cherish your memories of him.

I was so fortunate to have know Dr. Gold. Both his intelligence and his kindness are in my memory and, of course, his stories! I never saw or spoke to him that I did not come away feeling happier or better about myself. Though I had not seen him in several years, I kept up with him through Ruthie and I will miss him. My thoughts are with his family.

To the Family of Col. David Gold, MD USAF Ret. We wish to express our sincere condolences on the passing of Dr. Gold. He was a scholar, a patriot, and a truly good, gentle man. We met Dr. Gold in the 1980?s through Peggy and were fortunate enough to visit with him on a number of occasions. He was always a gracious and entertaining host. We could sit and listen to him for hours telling us his fascinating stories of his experiences in World War II, in his practice of Medicine, and his experiences in different parts of the world. He was a truly amazing man, as evidenced by his taking up the study of astronomy while in his seventies. There is no doubt that the world is a better place for his having been a part of it. We will always remember his intellect, his enthusiasm, and his humor. We share in your grief for the loss of a loving father, grandfather and friend. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time. But you can take comfort in knowing that when the trumpet sounds Taps at Fort Sam, Col. Gold will be reunited not only with his loving wife but also with his comrades in arms from Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. And there will doubtless be many a good laugh among them at how they fooled the Nazis into thinking that the red headed Jewish doctor was an Irishman. Our love and prayers are with you. Ruthie, I am sorry to read about your father's death. I remember meeting him at the bookstore last December at the madrigal singing--I think he offered his chair to my mother! I Gloria remember the visits and lunches we had and all his memories and stories that he shared with me. It was a joy for us to have been able to attend one of his birthday parties at Ruthie and James' home. I spoke to him in June to wish him a happy 93rd birthday and he was in great spirit and had a joyous attitude for life.

I had the distinct honor to provide medical care to Dr. Gold as his physician while with MacGregor Medical Association. We enjoyed a very strong bond not only as physicians but also as fellow Army Officers. Dr. Gold was a wonderfully warm and kindly gentleman with great wit and a strong sense of humor. I will always cherish his many stories of his trials and tribulations during the second world war. To his family I express my deepest sympathy. Frank Moorhead
