David was born on June 5, 1965, in Uvalde, Texas, to Jerry and Mary Hidalgo. He grew up in Uvalde and graduated from Uvalde High School in 1983. He attended The University of Texas, spending his summers as a camp counselor, and spent three years in England working for the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). He then pursued a career in business sales in San Antonio, Texas.
On March 22, 1997, David married Jolene Seivert. He was a loving husband, a proud father to his daughters, Mikaela Hoffmann (Aaron) and Miranda Hidalgo, and a devoted family man whose greatest happiness came from those he loved. He especially treasured becoming "Pops" to his cherished granddaughter, Kollins Kate, a role that filled his heart with indescribable joy.
David found delight in life's simple pleasures and the people he shared them with. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He savored cooking and had a special way of bringing family together around the table, where meals became lasting memories. He was also a devoted sports fan who proudly cheered on the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys.
David is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jolene; his daughters, Mikaela Hoffmann (Aaron) and Miranda Hidalgo; his granddaughter, Kollins Kate Hoffmann; his mother, Mary Hidalgo; his sister, Jacque Wasson (Tim); his brother, Dennis Hidalgo (Carol); his in-laws; his aunts and uncles; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Hidalgo.
Family and friends are invited to honor and celebrate David's life at the following services.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 N. Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, TX 78232.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 20523 Huebner Road, San Antonio, TX 78258. A reception will immediately follow in Holy Trinity Hall, where family and friends are invited to gather in fellowship and remembrance.
Following the reception, David will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Road, San Antonio, TX 78266 at 1:30 p.m.
