It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of David A. Lozano, aged 91. David was born in San Antonio to David and Rosa Lozano, and spent his youth in San Diego, CA. He served in the 8th US Air Force, 97th Bomb Wing from 1951-55, at Biggs AFB in El Paso, and Lakenheath and Mildenhall in England.
Later, David worked with the USPS as a mail handler. While there, he also served in the Employee Assistance Office, where he counseled employees dealing with addiction and other issues, and coordinated with municipal and county officials to refer employees to EAP as part of their probations.
After his retirement, he continued helping people in crisis: counseling, referring, and sometimes driving them to treatment centers day or night. He often told his wife, Gloria: Please don't ever stop me from helping people. In continuation of that spirit, he also worked as a driver/courier for Roy Akers and Porter Loring Funeral Homes.
David was a generous man and will be missed by many. He is pre-deceased by his mother and father; son, Mark Lozano, and daughter, Rebecca Lopez. He is survived by his wife; daughter, Rachel Cavazos (Roger); stepdaughters, Monica Bugaj (Brian), and Jacquie Moody-Fuller (Philip). He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
David's family invites you to a 6 P.M. viewing and 7 P.M. Rosary, followed by remembrances, July 12 at Sunset North Funeral Home (Loop 1604). Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on July 13 at St. Anthony de Padua (102 Lorenz), followed by burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. To honor David, we suggest donating to the National Veterans Outreach Program.
