

David Salinas, age 54, of San Antonio passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017 after courageously battling brain cancer for almost three years. He was born on March 7, 1962 in Raymondville, TX to Medardo Salinas and Maria Celia DeLuna Salinas. David was an extraordinary artist whose artwork graced many walls in San Antonio and throughout the world. He enjoyed creating beautiful floral arrangements as well. He worked for SER Jobs for Progress as a support services manager for 17 years where he helped many people achieve their dreams of returning to the workforce. He truly loved his family, friends and pets especially his Japanese Chins, Deja and Denali. For many years he was fortunate to visit many ports of call and countries with his constant companion and spouse, Doug. He possessed a great sense of humor and loved to shop. He will be greatly missed.
David was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Pedro Salinas and Medardo Salinas, Jr.
He is survived by his spouse, Doug Watson; sister, Lucy Salinas; brother, Samuel Salinas; childhood friend, Belinda "Bel" Phauls; nieces and nephews, Michael Salinas (Mari), Michelle Hernandez (Eddy), Sidney Salinas, Diego Salinas, Shannon Collins (Jason), Brian Kmet(Jocelyn), Maureen Kmet(Stephen), Selyna Viduarri(Tino) and numerous aunts and cousins. Sisters-in-laws include, Tila Salinas, Terry Salinas, Margo Salinas, and Denise Kmet (Ron).
Family would like to especially thank all the amazing staff and doctors of the START Center for their wonderful care and compassion.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 beginning at 3:00 p.m. at Porter Loring North Chapel.
