I saw David obituary yesterday and felt gut punched.  We lived across the street from the Tijerinas in the 70s and Javier was my best friend.  I lost touch with Javier and his family in the middle 80s during college.  Luana was a young adult so I only saw her occasionally in passing.  Laura was a little girl, not yet school age.  The three Tijerina boys were smart, athletic and kind.  David was a year ahead of me and Javier.  I remember David as extremely intelligent, well dressed and courteous.  He always had a smile.  I can still see David with his Wilson T3000 tennis racket.  I remember going on a day trip with the Tijerina family to Garner State Park one year.  We had big fun!  My heart breaks for the Tijerinas and I wish I could have been there to comfort my old friend, Javier, during his great loss. I used to work with David in the STICU. I remember many mornings and evening when we used to share reports. David always had a smile on his face. He was a great colleague.

We have known the Tijerina Family for years. Though I have not seen David in many years, I still have fond memories of the years and time spent during his youth. Our prayers are with his family, Elena, sisters and brothers. If it was not for health reasons I would have made the trip to SA..

David was a great friend to everyone. All of us, at one time or another, called him our "best" friend. Our hearts are broken for the Tijerina family. Everyone lives and dies; but not everyone will be missed as much as David.

David was such a good friend to all. Wonderful and hard working. He was a joy to be around. Awesome and positive attitude. His patients loved talking to him.  He will be truly missed. He would light up when he would talk about his family, their accomplishments and he loved talking about his lake trips  or other outings.  Will miss you buddy.  My condolences to his beautiful and loving family.
