David Noel Wallace was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose larger-than-life presence, generous spirit, and unconditional love for his family left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
David was preceded in death by his parents, James Marshall Wallace Jr. and Ruth Marie Pierce. He is survived by his beloved wife of 42 years, Linda Jean Wallace; sons, William Alexander Hamm (Catherine Gomez Hamm), Jonathan Adam Hamm (Christopher Lawrence Liao), and Brian A. Tacke. And his cherished grandchildren, Abbygail Rose Hamm and William Andrew Hamm, who brought him tremendous joy and pride.
Throughout his life, David embraced a variety of careers and adventures that reflected his talents, dedication, and willingness to serve. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a communications technician and was also part of a scuba diving team. He went on to build and own Delta Graphics, a successful graphic arts business, before later serving as a peace officer for the Bexar County Sheriff’s Department and Universal City Police Department. David approached each chapter of his life with determination, skill, and a strong sense of purpose.
Outside of his professional life, David found happiness in the things he loved most. An avid fisherman, he had a particular passion for fly fishing, finding peace and enjoyment in time spent on the water. He also loved retreating to his woodworking shop, where he could turn raw materials into something truly special. His creativity extended into the kitchen, where he was quite the baker. His Christmas cookies and homemade sourdough bread became treasured traditions, and some of his happiest moments were spent teaching his grandchildren the art of baking, passing along not just recipes but memories they will carry with them for years to come.
David was a strong man with a powerful presence. When he entered a room, people noticed. He was the life of the party, full of humor, energy, and fun, with a personality that could light up any gathering. He had a way of making life more entertaining and ensuring that those around him had a good time. His strength was unmistakable, but it was his heart that defined him most.
Above all else, David's greatest love was his family. His devotion to Linda, his wife of 42 years, was a testament to a lifetime of love, partnership, and commitment. He loved his family fiercely and unconditionally, including the family dogs, who held a special place in his heart. Whether he was sharing a laugh, teaching his grandchildren a new skill, baking something delicious, or simply spending time with those he loved, David made his family feel the depth of his devotion.
David leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, craftsmanship, adventure, and cherished traditions. Though his absence will be deeply felt, his spirit will live on in the stories shared around the family table, the scent of freshly baked bread, the memories of time spent fishing, and the countless moments of joy he brought to those he loved.
He will be remembered for his strength, his humor, his generous heart, and, above all, the unconditional love he gave so freely to his family.
David will be profoundly missed and forever loved. His life made a difference, his memories will endure, and his love will remain with his family always.
