Dean was born in Oklahoma City on December 3, l922 and made his last trip, to heaven, to be with his Lord on November 26, 20l4. He had a strong faith that was the center of his life from an early age until his death which was caused by a fall resulting in a fatal head injury.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Dean H. Binkley, Sr. and his mother, Florence Fender Binkley. He is survived by his wife Sammie McAlister Binkley, his daughters, Carolann Mahoney and husband Mick; Nini Hodges and husband Louis Hodges. He has one son, Richard; two grandchildren Jeremy Ziehe and wife Linda Ruth, and Erich McAlister and wife Vera.
Dean had just started college when Pearl Harbor was attacked and he joined the Army Air Corps. When the war ended, he returned to O.S.U. and met Sammie McAlister and earned his Mathematic and Electrical Engineering degrees. Dean and Sammie married after graduation and celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in August 20l4. Dean was a talented musician and enjoyed playing classical music (especially Bach) on the organ. He also played numerous other instruments. Dean was recalled to active service by the Air Force when the Korean War started. His career ended after 20 years of active duty retiring as a Lt Col and 19 years of civil service with the Air Force.
The family had tours of duty in Germany, France as well as Texas and Maryland. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12th from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at Porter Loring on McCullough with a service beginning at 10:00 am in the Chapel followed by interment in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
