Deanna grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Madison High School in 2013. During her young life she developed a strong desire to help others, whether it was leading a group of 4 & 5 year old children in Vacation Bible School or conducting one of her many study sessions as a Nursing Student at Incarnate Word University in San Antonio. She was a smart independent young lady, always looking forward and chose to engage in her school, being selected as the President of the UIW Student Nursing Association in the spring of 2021. In this role, she worked tirelessly to provide the leadership to earn her school two new awards from the Texas State Nursing Association (TNSA). This effort was noticed at the TNSA level and she was voted in as the President of the TSNA, which she proudly accepted. In 2022, she accepted the position of Ex-Officio Director for the National Student Nursing Association, to support other states in their development of the State Program. Her deep love for her Mother and her desire to learn new languages led her to teach her Mother how to say "I Love You" in multiple languages, which became part of their routine at the end of each day, regardless of where each of them were. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Richard Dean Erickson; and her aunt, Sandra Shepard.
Deanna is survived by her parents, Jeff and Britt Shepard; Sister, Andrea Shepard; Grandmother, Marian Dolan; grandparents, Norma and David Shepard and her many cousins.
