Deborah J. Harris, lovingly known as Debby, 77, of San Antonio, Texas, went to be with our Lord on March 8, 2026. Born November 2, 1948, Debby was a faithful and cherished presence in the lives of all who knew and loved her.
Debby was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Anne Smith; and her parents, Herman C. and Agnes Loretta Maffei.
She is survived by her loving husband, David Harris; her son and daughter in law, Mark and Evelien Harris; her grandchildren, Kaylee Madeline and Ella Rose; her sister, Carla Ann Burrow; her nieces, Tina Flick and Toni Reinfelder; her grandnephews, Christian and John Connor; and her grandnieces, Skylar and Sommer.
Debby graduated with the class of ’67 from Coronado High School in El Paso, Texas, and later achieved a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas–El Paso.
For several years, Debby served as a special education teacher for the El Paso Independent School District. After retiring, she dedicated her life to being the most amazing Mom and Grandma, and to caring for her parents in their later years—offering steady devotion, patience, and love.
A devout Catholic, Debby found joy in the simple and meaningful things: antiquing, sewing, and creating clothes for her children with skill and care. She loved animals, enjoyed researching genealogy, and took pride in the stories and connections that shaped her family.
Above all, Debby will be remembered for spending time with family—always making togetherness a priority whenever possible—and for reaching out, keeping in touch with friends, and giving of herself in ways both quiet and enduring.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St Timothy Catholic Church, 1515 Saltillo St, San Antonio, TX 78207, on March 23, 2026, at 8:30 am, followed by a Procession to Sunset Memorial Park for an 11:00 AM Committal.
