Deborah Ann Parker (Price) was born May 14, 1954 in Waco Texas and left for Heaven Aug 10, 2014. She grew up in Waco and graduated from Waco high school in 1972. As a teenager she was active North Waco Baptist church in missions and youth choir. She earned College degrees from Glendale community college and Wayland Baptist University. In 1973 Debbie married Tim Parker of Waco and then spent almost 20 years traveling with her husband in the US Air Force. She made great friends in Cheyenne, Wyoming; Los Angeles, California; Tuscaloosa, Alabama; Lakenheath, United Kingdom; and Phoenix, Arizona. Always quick to help, she taught a girls auxiliary at North Cheyenne Baptist church and helped in Vermont Avenue Baptist Church (Los Angeles) and First Baptist Church of Lomita, California. She worked in Mom's morning out at Calvary Baptist church in Tuscaloosa all the while caring for her own 3 children. The family's move to England in 1985 provided unique opportunities and Debbie led numerous volunteer programs at RAF Lakenheath. At the last AF duty assignment she began full time employment with Wayland Baptist University in 1992. In 1994 the family moved to San Antonio. Debbie served in various capacities with Wayland, ending as Financial Sevices manager for the San Antonio campus. She will be dearly missed by the Wayland family in San Antonio.
She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Timothy, and 3 children; Timothy Paul (spouse Rose), Christopher Tobias, and Tara Lyn (spouse Christopher). Also a brother, Richard Price of Denver, and sister Shelia Hixson of Waco. Debbie was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ouida Price of Waco.
Debbie loved to shop and Christmas was her favorite time of year. One of her most pleasant memories was sitting in a darkened room in her childhood home with only the Christmas tree lit, taking with her mother.
As a Mom she was devoted to her children. In the earliest years Paul was her companion as we moved 1,000 miles from home and connections, Toby’s arrival rounded us up to full family status and Debbie was thrilled to have a little girl when Tara came along. As a stay at home Mom for their formative years, she participated in all their activities and instilled security and Christian faith in their lives. As they grew to adulthood, she gave them room to mature but was always there when needed. She was justifiably thankful and proud that they are now fine Christian adults leading others in their jobs and lives.
Her bout with cancer 5 years ago set her discomfort with travel to rest and in these recent years she traveled to Europe twice, Mexico several times, various places in the US and ports of call on a number of ocean cruises. She liked to dress in bright colors and loved to talk with people. Even after diagnoses with terminal cancer just a few months ago, she had a bright greeting for everyone and genuine concern for them.
Her long time work with Wayland brought her into contact with people and gave her real responsibility and she treasured both. Coworkers came and went but Debbie cared for each one and kept up with their triumphs and troubles. She felt privileged to work in this organization.
