November 11, 1963 – April 26, 2026
Debra Ann Trevino, lovingly known as “DAT”, passed away on April 26, 2026, at the age of 62 in her hometown of San Antonio, Texas, due to a brain aneurysm. Though her passing was sudden, her life was full—overflowing with love, service, laughter, and an unwavering faith in God.
Debra was a woman of remarkable strength and dedication. A lifelong hard worker, she often held multiple jobs at once, giving her all in everything she did. She devoted 18 years of service to Norwood, and later worked with Habitat for Humanity, where her servant’s heart truly shined as she helped build not just homes, but hope for others.
For the past 13 years, Debra shared a deep and devoted partnership with the love of her life, Rachel Espinosa—whom she affectionately called “Rae ,” but most often, simply “babe.” Their bond was unbreakable. Debra loved Rae with a fierce, selfless love, always putting her first and treating her like a queen. Each day, she would greet Rae at the door with the same heartfelt words: “Babe, how was your day?”—a simple phrase that carried a lifetime of love and now memories. They were truly life partners in every sense.
Debra was a proud daughter and a devoted caregiver to her 94 yr old father, Daniel G. Trevino, whom she loved deeply. A true “daddy’s girl,” she cared for him daily with tenderness and commitment.
Debra is survived by her father, Daniel G Trevino; her beloved partner Rachel Espinosa; her son Jonathan Ortega; her sister Sylvia Rivera and 3 brothers Rudy, Dagoberto, Fidel; among several nieces and nephews and grandchildren. Plus The Garcia and Espinosa Families.
Debra was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Rodriguez.
Although she never had biological children Debra's love knew NO boundaries. She embraced Rachel’s 3 son's in addition to Jonathan and all their children as if they were her own grandchildren
Debra had a vibrant spirit and a love for life’s simple pleasures. She enjoyed fishing and camping every chance she could get—always chasing moments and making memories. She and Rae had recently purchased a truck tent, filled with plans for future adventures that now live on in spirit. She loved dancing, music, football (especially the Texas Longhorns and the Dallas Cowboys), and even the occasional trip to the casino.
Known for her big heart and protective nature, Debra was a safe place for so many. She had a rare gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued. Whether offering raw, honest advice or quietly helping a stranger—like giving an elderly person a ride home—she lived out compassion in action. She carried a tough exterior, but beneath it was a heart of gold, full of empathy and unconditional love.
She was the kind of person who lifted others, brightened every room, and never let anything stand in the way of making meaningful memories. Her laughter could be sparked by the simplest, even silliest moments, yet she carried herself with a steady seriousness when it mattered most. She was, without question, the best Tia anyone could ask for—loving, protective, and deeply present.
Debra’s faith in God was the foundation of her life. She believed with all her heart and had recently begun a Bible study alongside Rachel, deepening her walk with the Lord. Her life reflected the words of Scripture:
“She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.” — Proverbs 31:20
And we hold onto the promise:
“Well done, good and faithful servant… enter into the joy of your Lord.” — Matthew 25:23
Her favorite song, “Redeemed,” by Big Daddy Weave, spoke to the truth she carried in her heart—that she was saved, loved, and made new in Christ. Today, we find peace in knowing she is in His presence:
“To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8
Though she will be deeply missed, especially in the quiet moments where her voice once asked, “Babe, how was your day?”, we celebrate a life beautifully lived—a life rooted in faith, love, and service.
Visitation and Services
A visitation will be held on May 7, with family time beginning at 4:00 PM, followed by a prayer service at 6:00 PM. Food and fellowship will follow as we gather to honor and celebrate Debra’s life.
In Lieu of Flowers
The family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Debra’s memory to the Brain Aneurysm Foundation: https://www.bafound.org/
“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18
In our sorrow, we hold onto hope—for this is not goodbye, but until we meet again
