At the young age of 17, she married and began her life as a military wife. The life of a military spouse is not an easy one. With two young children in tow, Denise Taylor and Brenda Moslow, she dutifully followed her husband on deployments around the world having one child, Beverly Jerralds in Scotland and another, Angelina Boals, in Italy. We are truly an international family.
Several times, Delores had to travel alone with her girls when her husband was stationed in the United States. This was not without its challenges. During the bus ride to San Angelo, she had to rely on the kindness of a stranger to get milk for her infant daughter, Beverly, as the store keepers would not sell it to her. Delores' easy and open spirit stirred a stranger to assist her. That incident became a core memory.
Delores didn't work outside the home until she came to San Antonio in 1972. After over 25 years of dedicated work, she retired from a major national retailer. Her hard work, determination, raw talent and people skills led her from sales clerk to manager of a large department producing over a million dollars a year. During that time, she cared for and supported her husband as his health slowly declined.
Delores held many titles in life: daughter, sister, mother, wife, aunt, friend. But her crowning achievement was Grandma. While always being a safety net for her children, she lived to make sure her grandchildren knew they were loved, cherished and always welcome in her home. Well, spoiled is more like it. Grandma's house was the best!
To the end, Delores lived her life with courage, independence, faith and a total lack of self-pity. She moved through life with a fierce grace and confidence through the very end.
Delores is survived by her loving siblings: Anna Richey (Carl), John W. Lee (Paulette), Georgia Lee, James Lee, Margaret Hamilton, and Stewart Lee. Her daughters, Denise Taylor, Beverly Jerralds, and Angelina Boals. Forever son-in-laws, Gene Moslow and Steve Jerralds. Adoring and loving grandchildren: Walter Taylor, Brandalyn Taylor, Morgan Moslow, David Moslow, Cesselley Jerralds, Austin Jerralds, and Samara Boals; eight great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, additional family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Lee; husband, Walter Shipp, daughter, Brenda Moslow; brothers, Stanley Lee, Oliver Lee and David Lee; sister, Patricia Lee and a few nieces and nephews. You know her heavenly family welcomed her warmly.
The entire family wishes to acknowledge with gratitude and deep appreciation the comforting expressions extended by so many. Your messages of sympathy and all acts of kindness continue to strengthen us during this most difficult time.
