

Demetrio was born in Corpus Christi, Texas to Ramona Requenez Reyes and Demetrio Tovar Jr. Demetrio attended school and graduated from High School in San Antonio. Dan worked in both residential and commercial construction as a skilled craftsman across multiple disciplines his entire career. As a young man he was involved heavily in Golden Gloves Boxing and competed fiercely across the country as a featherweight, giving birth to his love for travel. He enjoyed watching and rooting for both the San Antonio Spurs and Dallas Cowboys and was a wonderful and gifted artist in his own right.
Demetrio is preceded in death by his Mother Ramona, Father Demetrio and Sister Gloria. He is survived by daughters Deborah and Sandra Lynn Tovar and son, Demetrio Tovar IV. Sisters Cynthia Tovar Trujillo, Marianne Abercrombie and husband John Abercrombie, III, Edna Woods and Naomi Ornelas. He has 5 Grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins all of whom he loved.
He loved God, was devoted to his mother until her passing and loved his children more than they can know.
He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at the age of 12 at Berea Baptist Church by his then Pastor Demetrio Galan.
Demetrio was generous to a fault and would literally give you the shirt off his back.
Pallbearers will be Rueben Abrego, Mark Trujillo and John Abercrombie, III.
Visitation will be from 6PM to 8PM on Tuesday, October 14th, 2025.
Funeral Services will be held beginning at 11AM on Wednesday, October 15th, 2025 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Shockley officiating.
Following, Demetrio will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend their sincere thanks to the many medical professionals who cared for and loved our Brother Dan along the way.
He is home and we will all see him again, in Glory.
