

Denise Christine Dean passed away on July 10, 2023, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 48 years old. Denise was born on March 27th, 1975, to Jack David Dean and Karen Ann Dean (Baumgartner) in Elmhurst, Illinois. Her family is deeply saddened by her sudden death.At the age of 1, Denise moved with her family to Berthoud, Colorado where she enjoyed her childhood. Denise excelled at sports. As a freshman at Frederick High School, she lettered in varsity volleyball, basketball, and track. She went on to graduate from Skyline High School before attending Aims Community College where she received her associate degree in criminal justice.She then completed her Certification in Peace Officer Standards Academy. During her career as a peace officer, she received numerous achievements and awards. Denise had a very successful career in law enforcement. She held many positions including Law Enforcement Officer, School Resource Officer, Detective, SWAT Negotiator, Defensive Tactics Instructor, and Crisis Intervention Trainer. As a School Resource Officer, Denise was famous for her pink handcuffs.She would tell you that the best achievement of her life was being mom to James Dean Bosch. James and his mother had an unbreakable bond. Denise was extremely proud of James and all his accomplishments, from his early motocross years to graduating with his master’s degree from the University of Colorado. She loved him dearly. Denise would always say to James, “You’re my boy Blue,” to which he would reply, “You’re my girl Pink.”Denise leaves behind her loving family and friends as well as her faithful companion, Achelois, her service dog. Her beautiful smile would always light up a room and it is no wonder she was so loved. She will be deeply missed.Denise was preceded in death by her stepfather, Jerry Nelson; grandparents Larry and Rose Dean; and nephew, Brandon Nelson.Denise is survived by son, James Dean Bosch; father, Jack (Michele) Dean; mother, Karen Nelson; stepbrother, Gerald (Jennifer) Nelson; stepsister, Amie (Kyle) Naas; nieces and nephew, Ashleigh, Ryan, Alycia, grandparents, John & Gerry Baumgartner; godparents Gary Dean & Sharen Jarzembowski; as well as numerous uncles, aunts, and cousins.
