

Born on February 4, 1976, in San Antonio, Texas, Denise was the beloved daughter of Alfredo and Dora Fuentes. She was preceded in death by her father, Alfredo C. Fuentes.
Denise grew up in a loving family alongside her brother and two sisters, where she developed the strong values of respect, honesty, responsibility, and compassion that would define her life. As the third of four children, Denise was known for her adventurous spirit, joyful laughter, and ability to bring happiness to everyone around her. She loved spending time outdoors, especially camping, hiking, fishing, and swimming - passions she later shared deeply with her own family.
After graduating from John Jay High School in 1994, Densie married the love of her life, Eloy Munoz, on September 4, 1999. Together, they built a beautiful life centered on love, faith, and family. Denise was a devoted mother to her two beloved sons, Matthew James Munoz and Michael Anthony Munoz, whom she raised with unwavering dedication, strength, and pride. She and Eloy created countless cherished memories through family adventures to Big Bend, the Grand Canyon, Colorado, and many national parks, passing on to their sons a love for nature and togetherness.
Denise’s love for children extended beyond her home and into her career. Inspired by her role as a mother, she pursued higher education and earned her Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M- San Antonio in 2011.She became a dedicated special education teacher, serving numerous elementary schools throughout San Antonio. At the time of her passing, Denise was a beloved special education teacher at Dr. Caroline Wernli Elementary. Her kindness, warmth, and commitment to her students left a lasting impact on her school community. Denise was admired by colleagues, students, and families alike for her loving heart, uplifting spirit, and unwavering advocacy for children with specialized needs.
Denise’s legacy is one of love, laughter, compassion, and service. She was the heart of her family, the joy of her friends, and inspiration to all who knew her.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband, Eloy Munoz Jr; her cherished sons, Matthew James Munoz and Michael Anthony Munoz; her mother, Dora R. Fuentes; her brother Fred (Bobbi) Fuentes; her sisters, Cindy (David) Alonzo and Pam (Rasheed) Wise; her father-in-law, Eloy Munoz; her mother-in-law Henrietta Munoz; her brothers-in-law, Thomas (Courtney) Munoz and Mark Munoz; numerous nieces and nephews; countless cousins, extended family members, students, colleagues, and dear friends.
Denise will be remembered always for her radiant smile, generous heart, and the deep love she gave so freely. Her memory will forever live on in the lives she touched.
A visitation will take place at 5:00 p.m., on Thursday May 7, at Porter Loring Mortuary West.
A rosary will follow at 7:00 p.m.
A procession from Porter Loring Mortuary West will start at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, with a committal at Resurrection Cemetery at Cordi-Marian beginning at 11:30 a.m.
