Born on June 1, 1962, Dennis graduated from Harlandale High School in 1980, where he proudly participated in both baseball and football. He later attended St. Philip’s College, studying Refrigeration and HVAC. His career in the HVAC and refrigeration industry spanned more than 42 years, a profession he loved and dedicated himself to wholeheartedly.
Dennis owned and operated his own Refrigeration and HVAC business on the south side of San Antonio for more than 16 years. In 2010, he expanded his expertise into restaurant equipment service, working for Dairy Queen and later joining Pappas Restaurants, where he remained a valued employee for over 11 years.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Gloria Y. Babida and Leo R. Babida.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Patti Morin Babida, with whom he shared 28 years of marriage and raised their two cherished daughters, Venetia Lauren Babida and Hilary Alysse Becerra (Nathan C. Becerra).
One of Dennis’s greatest joys in life was being “Popo” to his beloved granddaughters, Noelle Alysse Becerra and Lila Claire Becerra. They were the light of his life, and he rarely missed an opportunity to spend time with them. Whether attending soccer games, school performances, or simply stopping by for a visit, Dennis made it a priority to be present. His granddaughters brought him immeasurable happiness, and he treasured every moment with them.
Dennis also held a special bond with his son-in-law, Nathan, whom he loved as the son he never had. He admired Nathan’s strength, character, and devotion to family and took comfort in knowing his loved ones would always have someone they could depend on.
Above all else, Dennis was a proud father and grandfather. His daughters were his greatest accomplishments, and he celebrated every milestone in their lives. Some of his proudest moments included the births of his daughters, their college graduations, as well as walking Hilary down the aisle on her wedding day. Yet nothing compared to the joy he felt the day each of his granddaughters was born.
Dennis had a love for fishing. It wasn’t always about what he caught—it was about the experience, the stories shared, and the time spent with family and friends. Some of his happiest moments were spent with a fishing rod in his hand.
Dennis was known for his unwavering dedication to family, his hardworking spirit, and his generous heart. He believed in showing up for the people he loved, and he did so consistently. Family was always his highest priority.
He is also survived by his sisters, Rachel Aguilar (Fernando), Dolores Vela (Marvin), Carmel Babida, and Carol Napoles (Rudy); his brothers, Leo Babida Jr. (Lucy), Edward Babida (Molly), and Anthony Babida (Lori); as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Dennis’s legacy of love, dedication, and family devotion will continue to live on through all who knew and loved him.
