Devereaux Seth Temple passed peacefully October 4, 2024, at home surrounded by family. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, November 22, 1952, to Agnes Virginia Temple and Seth Ward Temple. They introduced Devereaux to many and varied cultures, including trips to Europe and summer camp in Mexico where he became fluent in Spanish.
Devereaux attended Alamo Heights High School, The University of Arkansas, and Southern Methodist University, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, obtaining his BBA. He then joined his father at Market Auto Finance.
He met a cute girl from Kerrville, Jane Ann Holekamp, at a Fiesta party. They just clicked! They married on May 14, 1983, and became the proud parents of two daughters. Devereaux and Jane Ann enjoyed a loving marriage of 41 years.
Devereaux was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of San Antonio, where he served as a Deacon. He was a member and volunteer in many organizations, including The Old Trail Drivers Association of Texas, Texas Wildlife Association, San Antonio Livestock Exposition, San Antonio German Club, San Antonio Conservation Society, and The Lamplighters.
Devereaux was a best friend to everyone he knew. If there was an illness or unexpected event in your life, suddenly your lawn was mowed. This is just one example of how Devereaux showed up in people's lives. He was happiest outdoors when hunting, fishing or barbecuing. He always lit up a room with his smile and filled it with laughter from his corny jokes.
He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Susanna Temple Stiles. He is survived by his wife and daughters, Ginny Brown, husband Jonathan and Elizabeth Boelsche, husband Brian, and two grandchildren, whom he adored.
Honorary pallbearers are Ben Jackson, Porter Loring III, Richard Mathews, Peter McGanity, Tom McGehee, Brian Richardson, Paul Rohlfs, T. Sandlin, David Sien, John Stiles, Jim Travis and Max Wier III.
The family is grateful for the care given by Dr. Lon Smith and Bonnie Clark at The START Center. In lieu of flowers, the family requests blood donations at your Blood Bank or to a charity of your choice. There will be a private graveside service for family members prior.
