Devin spent most of his childhood years growing up on the Southside of San Antonio with his Grandparents and 4 siblings. He was creative, humorous, outgoing, compassionate, and had a smile that could light up the room. He enjoyed reading books, especially the Harry Potter series. He could finish the whole series in a couple days and once he was done, he would reread them. He loved to draw and would carry around a sketch pad that he would spend hours on at a time. He even convinced Grandpa to draw a huge Winnie the Pooh and Scooby Doo mural on his white fence. Till this day, the paintings are still on that fence, covered, so it doesn’t get ruined. Sometimes he would come home from school and instead of saying what he learned, he would show us a drawing that he spent all day doing at school. Yet somehow he was still the smartest kid out of not only his siblings, but his entire class at school even while sometimes not paying attention in class. How did he do it? We never knew. I guess that’s just how smart and bright he was. During parent teacher conferences, his teachers would always express how smart he was and how impressed they were by him. His teachers always had a soft spot for him because they knew he was capable of so much. His dream was always to become a architectural engineer, he had the brain to do it. He was involved in sports since a young age and really enjoyed basketball. Grandpa or grandma would be there to pick him up after practice and he would always say “one more shot grandpa” over and over until it led to 10-20 more minutes of “one more shot”. When in some of his sports teams, he would sometimes cause his team and himself to be in trouble and have to do cardio as punishments because he enjoyed cracking jokes and being a class clown.
However, he enjoyed his punishments because he could run forever while not getting tired and would still be cracking jokes while running causing his teammates to laugh from the sidelines. He also loved playing instruments, especially the drums. He enjoyed skateboarding, however, he went through boards fairly quickly because of the amount of times he broke them trying to learn new tricks. Video gaming also interested him and anything you can think of because the list goes on. He was so talented and a man of all trades who had such a passion for everything he did. Once he would start something he was a perfectionist and wanted it to be perfect. And one thing he really enjoyed was Friday WWE smack down with his brother Nathan in the living room or on trampoline. All you would hear is things falling or walls being hit and that’s when you knew they were going at it. He picked up so many moves that he even started jumping from a tree to the trampoline to knock Nathan down. Eventually that tree had to be cut down by grandpa because of the amount of times he jumped from it when he was told not to. Oh and don’t forget the chips, he always enjoyed making pit stops at a store to get either hot Cheetos, Takis, or some sort of spicy bag of chips. Every time you saw him, his fingers would be stained red from all the hot chips he would eat. He was not picky whatsoever and loved eating food in general. It didn’t matter if the ingredients did go together, he’d always manage to make something to eat with what he had. Devin was also very loving and easygoing when it came to making new friends everywhere he went, it was important to him. He would talk to you like if he had already known you for a while. He cared about everyone who was put in his path. Halfway through high school he then moved up north for a change and graduated with his high school diploma from Brandeis High school. He made new friends, got his first job at Sonic, and even began making music for fun. As time went by, it became a way for him to express his feelings and emotions. He shared it through Instagram and other music platforms for others to enjoy and relate to. He would write his own lyrics and made every song very personal to him, but put him on the spot and he could give you a quick freestyle. One thing he was, was very grateful and thankful for the family he had. He was always protective and patient with his little sister and looked up to his older brother. He also appreciated the 2 people who raised him and would do anything for him; his Grandma and Grandpa, Juan and Maria Aguero. He would always go back home to visit them and would never fail to tell them “I want to thank you for everything you did for me, I know it was tough raising 5 kids but thank you for doing it, I love you so much”. Family meant everything to him and he just wanted to make everyone proud. He had a pure heart. We will all miss you so much Devin Henry Aguero, we’re all proud of you.
We want to thank all of our family and friends for all the help and support everyone has shown us during this hard time. We can’t express how much it means to our family.
