It is with deep sorrow and profound love that we announce the passing of Diana Graciela Hernandez on March 20, 2025, in San Antonio, Texas. Diana was a devoted mother, loving wife, fearless nurse, retired disabled veteran, and an inspiration to all who knew her. Her legacy of compassion, strength, and kindness will continue to touch the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Diana was born on March 25, 1986, in Port Lavaca, Texas, to Otilia Gonzalez and Reynaldo Hernandez. From a young age, she exhibited a deep sense of duty and an unwavering commitment to helping others, qualities that would shape her life’s work. Upon graduating, Diana answered the call to serve her country by enlisting in the Army, where she proudly served for four years. After her military service, she continued her dedication to helping others by earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. For over 11 years, she worked as a registered nurse, offering care and comfort to countless patients, including working on the front lines in New York City during the COVID pandemic. Her bravery, selflessness, and deep empathy shined brightly in every role she took on, whether as a nurse, a soldier, or a mother.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Diana embraced life with joy and passion. She loved spending time with family, tending to her many plants, shopping, cooking, traveling, and hosting unforgettable gatherings. She welcomed everyone into her home with open arms, sharing her warmth, kindness, and love. She was known for her boundless generosity, always offering a helping hand, a warm meal, or a comforting presence to anyone in need.
Diana was the heart of her family. She and her husband, Marcus C. Borsvold, shared 14 wonderful years of marriage, filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support. Together, they built a home full of cherished memories and unbreakable bonds. Above all, Diana was a devoted mother to her children: Samara L. Monreal, Marcus Jr. Borsvold, Solana L. Borsvold, and Soloman L. Borsvold. Her children were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into ensuring they felt loved, supported, and cared for every single day.
Diana is preceded in death by her grandfathers, Hilario Hernandez and Francisco Gonzalez. She is survived by her parents, Otilia Gonzalez and Reynaldo Hernandez; her husband, Marcus C. Borsvold; her children, Samara L. Monreal, Marcus Jr. Borsvold, Solana L. Borsvold, and Soloman L. Borsvold; her siblings, Reinaldo (Rey) Gonzalez, Joe A. Hernandez, Edward Hernandez, Hernan A. Hernandez, Nicole Hernandez, April Hernandez, and Alexandria N. Hernandez; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other extended family members, all of whom will deeply miss her but continue to carry her love and spirit with them.
A public visitation will be held at Porter Loring Mortuary West, located at 1710 W Loop 1604 N, San Antonio, TX 78251, on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, with a service to follow from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM. A dinner reception will take place at 20463 Scenic Loop Rd., Helotes, TX 78023, beginning at 5:30 PM.
Diana's memory will remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. She will be profoundly missed yet forever remembered.
