

Born to Gilbert Mireles and Maria De Los Angeles Mireles, Diane spent her early years as a military child, traveling across the United States and parts of Europe. She attended various schools in multiple states, including Germany and Spain. After graduating from Madrid High School (Spain) in 1965, she returned to San Antonio and attended Incarnate Word College (now University of the Incarnate Word), where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1969.
Diane dedicated over four decades to a career in nursing, working at various hospitals in San Antonio. From 1983 to 1997, she served at the Women and Children's Hospital, and from 1997 to 2013 at Methodist Hospital. Her primary focus was in Mother & Baby care and the Newborn Nursery. Diane retired in 2013 after 44 years of service.
Outside of her professional life, Diane was an avid reader and talented poet, often sharing her writings with loved ones. She was renowned for her culinary skills, especially her cooking and baking prowess. Gardening, sewing, and treasure hunting at thrift stores and estate sales brought her great joy.
Diane's faith in God was the cornerstone of her existence. A devout Catholic, she dedicated her life to Christ, finding solace and strength in her beliefs. Diane's spirituality extended to her practice of writing heartfelt prayers, which she lovingly shared with others, offering comfort and inspiration. Diane was an active member of the Altar Society at St. Paul's Church from 2013 to 2017, where she found great joy in serving her community and deepening her spiritual connection.
Diane's greatest love was her family and friends. She cherished spending time with them and shared her boundless love with all who knew her. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to a charity of your choice.
Diane is survived by her loving children, Kimberly Bigham and Teresa Bigham; grandchildren Angelica Riojas and her husband Ryan Price, Savannah Rodarte, Ian Rodarte, and Hannah Anderson; siblings Gilbert J. Mireles and Nancy Davila; nieces Maritza Davila, Sofia Blackwell, and Megan Mireles; and nephews Emilio Davila and Miguel Mireles.
