I've known Diane all of our growing up years in Springhill. She was always a sweet, generous friend. Our oldest, daughter, Diane, was named after her. I saw her for the last time at our 55th class reunion on April 26, 2008. She was the first to come & give me a hug when I arrived. We had a nice visit, though I never thought it would be our last. My husband, Marvin, is also retired from the Air Force, so that gave us an added bond. She will be greatly missed by her family & all who knew her. Our prayers go out to the family.

Diane was a great member of the Fiesta City Chorus. She was always willing to lend a hand and help a "newbie" to the group, especially when learning the bari part. She always had a lovely smile for those around her. The world is a richer place because of the lives she touched.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another. 
 
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Mrs. Diane Milner Wilson a loving Air Force wife who provided dedicate service to her country and her family. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Mrs. Wilson. And to Mrs. Wilson it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for her devotion to her husband, her family, the U.S. Air Force and her country. Only a military wife knows the difficulties and great sacrifices associated with raising a military family that relocated frequently and that often included long separations from the one they loved most and anxious moments of concern for their safety. Mrs. Wilson we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

Our deepest sympathy goes out to Diane's family and friends. She always had a smile on her face whenever we saw her at Lauren's house. It was an honor to know her and she will be missed by all.

I sang with Diane for several years in Fiesta City Chorus, and I will always cherish the sense of fun she brought to everything she did. She always had a twinkle in her eye! Her family was her greatest source of strength and pride, and she spoke of you all so lovingly. I know we are all better, kinder people for having known Diane. She will be greatly missed. You are all in the thoughts and prayers of those of us who thought so much of Diane.

Diane and I are the same height-short- but it allowed us to see "eye to "eye' on many issues. We met at CUUC and enjoyed each other's company whenever we had a chance. I enjoyed her quick wit, discerning and questioning mind along with her generous heart. We used email often where she was always quick to send "good vibes" to those in need. I would like to return all those "good vibes" to her as she returns to the place from which we all have come. Sincerely with love, Joan

Diane was a great lady and a real trooper when it came to performing. I remember one time we were singing at Harambe Oakes and, during one song, Diane got a puzzled look on her face for a second and then she was her wonderful self again. She told us later that a bug flew in her mouth and it took her a second to decide -- do I swallow or spit? She decided that swallowing was more ladylike. How like Diane to swallow a bug and keep right on singing. We will miss her a lot.

To Jim and your family: I feel in many ways as if I've lost a sister. I have so many memories of living next door on Church St. in Springhill ~ hours of hop scotch between our houses, playing Monopoly and paper dolls in 'the play house,' holding funerals for the birds the 'mean boys' in the neighborhood shot, playing in the deep red clay ditches that bordered our back yards, attending Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at the Presbyterian Church. And I'll never forget that Diane loved Sandwich Spread, NOT Miracle Whip or mayonnaise. And that time she disgustedly broke a little tea set when she observed it was 'Made in Japan' ~ that obviously when we were VERY young! And I'm very glad we had that visit a couple of months ago.
