Diane was born in Panama City, Florida on April 10, 1935 to Frank Davis Milner and Lucille Herring Milner. She grew up in Springhill, Louisiana where she met her future husband, James Jim Wilson in kindergarten. They went to Louisiana Tech together, married in 1954 and graduated in 1957.
Her husband's commission as a second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and subsequent training to become a fighter pilot took them all over the world. Diane and their 4 children followed him to 10 different states and 2 foreign countries. When her own children were older, Diane worked tirelessly as a teacher for special needs kids.
Jim and Diane moved to San Antonio in 1985 and Jim retired the following year. Diane then returned to teaching and later was also able to put her love of the English language to use by grading written tests for a national standardized testing company. In addition, she followed her lifelong passion for music and joined the Fiesta City Chorus of the Sweet Adelines. She was a devoted member of the Community Unitarian Universalist Church.
They moved to Air Force Village II in 2003. Although she was an only child, she always wanted a large family. She considered her lifelong best friend, Jane Harper Tidwell, and later on, Jim's siblings, as her own.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lucille Milner, her mother-in-law, Vurdice Wilson Cardwell Phillips and her brother-in-law, Scott Cardwell.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, James Jim Wilson; son, Davis Milner Wilson and wife, Gail Wilson of Round Rock; daughters, Leeanne Wilson Pacatte and husband, Daniel Pacatte of Austin, Tracy Wilson Adams of Austin, Lauren Wilson Millard and husband, Michael Millard of Elbert, Colorado; sisters-in-law, Hellen Youra, Vicki Rucker and Terri Cardwell; five grandchildren, Timothy Pacatte, Clayton Pacatte, Jessica Wilson, Madison Millard, Ross Millard; six nieces and nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends.
