In the early 70’s I joined Dianna and her roommate Libby when I moved with my friend Rosanne to Houston, Texas into an apartment. Four of us gals, all from San Antonio, shared two adjacent apartments. We called ourselves “Unclaimed Treasures” because we had no boyfriends – fresh out of college, excited about our new jobs and futures. We had freedom, wheels, and a little money, and were living in the most exciting city in Texas. Dianna was funny, smart, cute, and full of energy. She soon met Chuck, and we were all bridesmaids in her wedding. Oh man what a great time that was. Over the years, we all moved on to separate cities and some of us lost touch, but Dianna and I stayed contact and managed to see each other from time to time and stay connected. 
Chuck and Dianna were blessed with baby Leslie after they moved to Arizona. We all celebrated their new baby who has grown into an amazing woman herself with her wonderful husband, important career, and beautiful daughter Phoenix. 
I thought the world of Dianna. I admired how she put so much energy and drive into working towards higher and higher education, earning honors and recognition for outstanding performance along the way. I flew to Arizona to be there for her graduation and remember seeing her in her Doctoral robes. I will never forget the feeling of pride for my friend. Her dedication to nursing, her awards, her honors - the stuff of heroes. I saw less and less of Dianna after that, pursuing my own ends, but I continued to follow her path.
In the years prior to her retirement (2008 through 2015), Dianna taught in the Masters and RN-BSN Online programs - Nursing Research, Evidence-Based Practice Leadership and Health Promotion at the University at Brownsville in Texas. She conducted extensive research in Predictors of Successful Nursing Clinical Information Systems in the Lower Rio Grande Valley area hospitals. RIP my friend. My condolences to the family.

My sweet funny friend. I will miss you so. Even though we lost touch in the last several years, I always thought about you and how you made going through the PHD program bearable. We also had so much fun working at ASU together. We had such a great time with the Ducks and going to Duck and Decanter every Saturday to talk and de-stress too. 
You will be missed, my wonderful friend and my heart is hurting right now. You will always be in my thoughts and my prayers. I love you so. Judy
