May 8, 1938 - September 6, 2026
Our dear Aunt Mickey passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 6, 2026, after a short battle with colon cancer. She was born on May 8, 1938, in San Antonio, Texas.
A lovely spirit winged its way to heaven, where she was reunited with her beloved husband of 30 years, Francisco “Frank” Ferdin, and her cherished companion of 10 years, Enrique “Johnny” Alderete. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Concepcion and Juan Castro; her sisters, Concepcion Salazar and Angela Castro; and her brother, Jose Juan Castro.
She is survived by her sister, Juanita “Janie” Saenz, along with her many nieces and nephews and other loving family members and friends.
Aunt Mickey was a woman who loved her family deeply and treasured every moment spent with those she held dear. She will always be remembered for her beautiful, warm smile, generous heart, and youthful, positive spirit. Her fondest wish was simple: Be Happy, Cherish One Another, and Remember Her With Joy. She wanted her family and friends to know that she is no longer suffering but has found peace.
Aunt Mickey’s love and spirit live on through the many family members and friends whose lives she touched with her kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, and especially by those who admired her strength, resilience, and ability to bring happiness to those around her.
May we find comfort in knowing that Aunt Mickey has left behind the struggles, pain, and sorrow of her battle with cancer and entered into the health, joy, and peace promised through Jesus Christ. Though our hearts are heavy with her passing, we can celebrate the life she lived, the love she gave, and the memories she leaves behind.
Farewell, Aunt Mickey. We are all better for having known you. Your love will remain in our hearts, and you will never be forgotten.
