

On July 22, 2021, Dolores Murguia Calderon passed away peacefully at the age of 91 after a brief illness. A San Antonio native, Dolores lived an exemplary life. She was loved and respected by the San Antonio School District, where she worked; St. Matthew Catholic Church, where she worshiped; the Sixers, Legion of Mary, ACTS Retreat and the Red Hat Society and especially by her family. From a young age, she worked in her father’s business, Green Tree Cleaners and was a skilled seamstress, able to make even ornately beaded wedding dresses.
Dolores, daughter of David Murguia and Guadalupe Gomez, was born into a practicing Catholic family. She was one of nine children: David (Armida), Alice (Jesus Villarreal), Guadalupe, Raul (Caroline), Frances (Guillermo Zamora), Maria, Edward (Connie), Mary Lou (Bill Dubois), Jerry (Nancy) and Patsy (Richard Bryce).
She was married to Mario Calderon, the love of her life, for 44 years at the time of his death. Dolores had six loving children, Steve (Celina), Joan (Herb Schaefer), Dolores (Steve Saindon), David (Paola), Carolyn (Charles Riley) and Gerard (Elizabeth); 14 grandchildren, Nicole, Stephen (Amy), Robynne (John Paugh), Bianca (Benjamin Mulloy), Frankryan Humada, Lucas, Marcos, Daniela, Ashley Dunlap, Angela Dunlap, Derek, Mark, Wesley and Madison; 7 great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Natalie, Trauber Mulloy, Wyatt Paugh, Preston Mulloy, Xayne Paugh and Colin Mulloy.
She was a devoted daughter-in-law to Felicitas and wonderful sister-in-law to Mario’s brothers, Humberto (Susie), Antonio and Hector (Diane). She leaves numerous nieces and nephews; Patsy Crane, her dearest friend of 30 years, and Chrissy, her faithful Bison Frise.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, David, and Guadalupe Murguia; husband, Mario Calderon; infant son, Stephen and mother-in-law, Felicitas Calderon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
