Dominador Allado Cambal, beloved husband, father, lolo and proud veteran, passed away unexpectedly on October 5, 2024 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 85. Born on August 4, 1939, in Mauban, Philippines, to Segundina Allado and Leon Cambal, Dominador grew up with a deep sense of duty, family, and faith. These values guided him throughout his life.
Dominador took Mercedes hand in marriage on January 31, 1970, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Quezon City, Philippines. His world revolved around his wife, Mercedes, and their children: Marita; Daniel; and Theresa. His unwavering love and support defined him and his family was always at the center of his heart.
Dominador received his Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting at Far Eastern University in Manila, Philippines. In pursuit of a brighter future, he joined the U.S. Navy where he proudly served for 22 years. He dedicated years of his life to the military achieving the rank of Senior Chief. Upon retiring from the U.S. Navy, he worked for more than 15 years at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London, CT.
Dominador loved his visits with family and friends where he would share the stories of his life experiences and impart on us the idea that “dreams do come true.” Spending part of his youth on farms in the Philippines, Dominador had a passion for gardening especially the planting of vegetables not typically available here in the United States. He loved his daily walks with Mercedes. He loved his fifties music where he would randomly break into the twist or some other form of dance. He loved to sing the songs of his youth especially “Secret Love” which if you heard the stories of their youth, likely had something to do with the love of his life, Mercedes.
Dominador will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and dedication to his family and country. His legacy of love and commitment will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mercedes Luz Cambal; his children, Marita Peralta, Daniel Cambal, and Theresa Cambal; his grandchildren, Coral, Annabelle, PJ, Gabriel, Emily, Morgan and Ashton; and a wide circle of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
