Domingo T. Gonzalez lived a life that was a testament to the power of resilience, love, dedication, and joy. Born on October 15, 1933, in Eagle Lake, Texas, Domingo grew into a man whose presence was a source of strength and inspiration to all who knew him. He passed away peacefully on June 29, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas, surrounded by his cherished family, leaving behind a legacy of love and service.Domingo shared 69 years of marriage with his beloved wife Carmen. Together, they built a family rooted in faith and love with their three children, Diana Arguello (Gene), Domingo J. (Cathy) and Debbie Silva (Roger). They raised their grandson, Domingo N. (Melissa Manning) in addition to being a part of the lives of their many grandchildren - George Eric Guerrero (Perla), Gene Arguello (Lori), Steven Arguello (Patty Gonzalez), Valerie Mata, Michael Don, Richard Gonzalez, Cynthia Silva and Roger Dylan Silva, great grand-children - Kazandra Cavazos (Jayson), Kallista Guerrero (Agustine), Katalina, Kamillah, Eric Emmanuel, Lawson, Griffin, Aiden and Evan and great, great grandchild Tyler. Domingo's living siblings, Dora Luna (Ray) and Daniel Gonzalez of Edinburg, TX stood by him as pillars of strength and support throughout his life.Domingo was a proud graduate of Edinburg High School. After graduation, Domingo was recruited to come to San Antonio where he trained and became a Registered Radiological Technologist, a career that spanned nearly half a century. His diligence and compassion were evident at both the San Antonio State Chest Hospital and the Santa Rosa Hospital Downtown, where he not only worked but also nurtured countless patients and mentored colleagues with his wisdom. In his free time, he loved to fish and spend time in his backyard tending to his garden and pets. He was an avid sports fan, who loved to talk about his beloved San Antonio Spurs and the Dallas Cowboys. And for the past 10 years, he was a season pass holder at Sea World, a place that became a second home to him as he and Carmen were fondly known as the “grandparent’s of Sea World”. But most of all, our Poppa was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. Rose of Lima Church. He loved the saints and would pray fervently for his loved ones. He lived by the famous quote of St. John Vianney, “All that we do without offering itto God is wasted.” His absence leaves a void, but his spirit remains indelible, encouraging us to live with the same boundless love and selflessness he exemplified. In the quiet moments of reflection, let us honor Domingo T. Gonzalez by embracing the life lessons he imparted and by striving to carry on his legacy of wisdom and love.It was Domingo’s wish that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2024, at Porter Loring Mortuary West (located near Sea World).
