

Domingo Gomez Quintero, age 91, of San Antonio, passed away on September 28, 2017. He was born on February 1, 1926 to Elias Pacheco Quintero and Theresa Arocha Gomez. He was a descendant of several of the Canary Island families who settled in San Antonio in 1731. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of VFW Post 4700 and Knights of Columbus Council 4786. He was an active member of St. Stephen Catholic Church where he served as an usher, CYO baseball coach, Men’s Club president, parish council member, and Holy Name Society member. After working 36 years, he retired from civil service at Kelly A.F.B.
He was a loving father who raised his eight children as a single parent after his wife passed away in 1970. He had a zest for life and truly enjoyed dancing. He was the king of the dance floor. He had the passion to serve his community and enjoyed helping those in need. During his life with Alzheimer’s, he never lost his quick wit, and could make you smile and laugh with the words he uttered.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Emma Talamantez Quintero; his son, John Quintero; and his siblings – Eudelia Lombrano, Jesus Quintero, Florentino Quintero, Vidal Quintero, Juanita Esposito, Lupe Quintero and Teresa Arechiga. He is survived by his children – Anthony Quintero (Dorelia), Linda Davila (David), Phillip Quintero (Sherri), Ronald Quintero (Diane), Carol Ortiz, Jerry Quintero (Gloria) and Emma Quintero; his brother-in-law, Vincent Esposito; 22 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his care taker, Norma Flores.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at St. Timothy Catholic Church at noon with interment to follow at San Fernando II Cemetery.
