Dominick was born in Bronx, NY on November 29, 1922. A son of Italian immigrants, Peter and Katie Uzzi.
He leaves behind one son, Rick Uzzi and his wife Gaby Uzzi, two daughters, Lori Uzzi and Karen Hubbs and her husband Johnnie Hubbs, daughter-in-law Statia Uzzi, his sister-in-law, Phyllis Monteferante, and numerous nieces and nephews, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grand children and 1 great, great grandchild.
Dominick was married for 65 years to the love of his life, Anne. And now, by the hands and grace of God, they are reunited again. His favorite song was "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes". Feeling that way after his wife Anne passed away. A lovely flame died, smoke got in his eyes. He will also be reunited with his son, Peter Uzzi, who sadly passed away before him.
He served in the US Army as a proud WW II Veteran. Serving in 4 different campaigns in 4 different countries. We are so proud of him.
Dominick retired from the US Post Office after 30 years of service as a mail carrier. He took pride and amazed us in knowing all his customers names, their addresses and a little bit about them.
He was a true jokester his whole life. Always finding humor in everything and always making people smile. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, great and great, great grandfather who loved his family.
He also loved to sing. Even recording a CD at age 90, which we will all be able to cherish and listen to forever. Now we will never forget his beautiful voice that he was blessed with.
An old movie buff with an incredible memory, being able to name all the old actors and actresses, like it was yesterday. He also loved golf. Even joyfully boasting about getting a hole in one.
Dominick will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him, but he will be forever in our hearts. Another favorite songs says, he will be there. " Not for just an hour, not for just a day, not for just a year, but always. "
A celebration of his life will be held at Sunset Funeral Chapel, 1701 Austin Hwy. San Antonio, TX on Jan. 14, 2016, from 5-7 PM, with a short service following.
