Don was born in Brady, Texas to Fred and Moda Alma Bush Harlow on January 27th, 1936. He went to Harlandale High School in San Antonio. He graduated from West Texas State University with bachelor’s and master’s degrees. He worked as a Safety Engineer for Pantex and Rock Flat for 36 years and retired in the San Antonio area. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served in the Navy, Naval Reserve, and Army Reserve and was awarded the Navy Good Conduct, Army Achievement, Army Reserve Components Achievement, National Defense, Korean Service, Armed Forces Reserve, Army NCO Professional Development (1 device), Army Service, and UN Korean Service Medals. He enjoyed playing golf with his buddies and spending time with family and friends.
Don married his spouse, Donna Louise Harlow on October 10th, 1978, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Don is preceded in death by his son, Daryl Glen Harlow, brother William Jack Harlow, granddaughter Cecily Dawn Kelly and parents.
Don is survived by his spouse Donna, his son Ricky Don Harlow (spouse Jan), daughter Peggy Lynne McCarter (spouse Clifford), daughter Donna Jean Oatman (spouse Don), stepdaughter Leslie Hinson and stepson Jay Hinson (spouse Peggy), grandchildren Kristen Cox, Joshua Wyatt, Courtney Oatman, LanDon Oatman, Wesley Oatman, Dillon Oatman, and Destiny Rogers, great-grandchildren Heydon Kelly, Brennan Kelly, Carter McCort, Caroline Oatman, Wilson Oatman, Collette Oatman and Cathleen Oatman, great-great grandchild Oaklynn McCort.
Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday, September 30th at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, San Antonio, Texas 78218
Funeral services will be held 12 PM Thursday, October 1st at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home with the Reverend Bill Shockley, officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 1:30 PM.
Memorials may be given to Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home.
