

He was a graduate of Adamson High School in Dallas, Texas, Class of 1949. Don proudly served in the United States Air Force, then attended the University of North Texas and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin.
Don enjoyed a long career as a Petroleum Landman. He worked for Conoco, MidWest Oil and finally retired after 23 years with Tesoro Petroleum Corporation in San Antonio.
Don had been a member of the Petroleum Club of San Antonio, the San Antonio Gun Club and was an active member of Coker United Methodist Church.
He joyfully served the church in many ways, including the delivery of flowers to brighten the days of others.
He also loved the outdoors; including many years of tennis, golfing, hunting, skeet shooting, fishing and gardening.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, Don is survived by his wife Mary Ann, his daughters, Susan Smith Winzeler (Dennis) of St. Petersburg, Florida; Kathryn Smith Ueckert (Jeff) of Dallas, Texas, and his beloved grandchildren Kaden and Lindsey Winzeler and Reese and Allison Ueckert.
Through his faith, Don maintained an optimistic attitude and set a wonderful example for all those he touched. He never met a stranger and enjoyed sharing his wit and humor.
He was a true and trusted friend, ready to lend a hand to help at all times. Those that were lucky enough to know him, loved him.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014, at 1:00 pm at Coker United Methodist Church, 231 E. North Loop Road, San Antonio, TX 78216.
