Don moved often in childhood due to father’s military obligations during WW2, including a couple of years in Japan.
He attended high school in El Paso where he met his future wife, Judy—he being the high school quarterback and she a cheerleader.
After high school he did his undergraduate degree at Texas Western College (now UT El Paso) and then completed dental school at UT Houston.
After graduating, he served in the Army at Fort Hood before setting up a private dental practice in San Antonio.
After retiring in 1995, he focused his interest in investing, golfing, gardening, and sculpting.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, daughter, son, four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
He will be buried at Fort Sam Houston.
