Although I did not get to know Don very well, I have the pleasure of being kin. He gave me the opportunity to have a wonderful sister-in-law. For that I thank him and send my deepest condolences to his beloved family.

I may have not known Don extremely well but I knew him enough to appreciate him and his wife Carolyn for their daughter who is my best friend and who I consider a sister as well as their granddaughter Kayla. Don always had jokes to tell which always made me laugh and I will cherish those times. I have two sons and to this very day, they still remember Don the funny man who spoke in a Donald Duck voice. He is missed and will continue to be missed!! It's conforting to know that he is now with our Lord and Savior and was blessed to be able to see His radiant face!! You all are in our prayers.

Thank you for always taking care of us and making sure your children knew about Jesus. Thank you for always doing stuff for me; you always said yes, no matter the task. I know that you are in heaven with Jesus and Donnie, Jr. We all will see you again one day. I love you Dad and I am glad that we got to spend time together before you went home. We were in San Antonio over the week end chaperoning our oldest grandson on a school trip. We stopped by the funeral home with hopes of seeing Donnie and visiting with family. We were a little early for seeing Donnie but we did get to meet briefly with daughters Pam and Debbie. I'm not sure they remembered us very well but we were elated to see them. Living in East Texas, we never got to see Donnie and Carolyn very much, normally at reunions, but when we were younger, my brothers John and Harold and myself were closest first cousins. I remember our childhood days as if they were yesterday and what a great time we all had. I could add some great stories here but realize I can't add a book and believe me I could. The one thing I will mention and this always impressed me so much about Donnie. Anytime, a member of my immediate family died or very sick and in the hospital, Donnie always made the trip to East Texas to encourage and uplift our family. He was truly a man of love and compassion for his family and yes we will all miss him dearly. I can see my Dad, Velmer, Sr and Donnie catching up on family matters and quite possibly engaging in some friendly biblical argument.

Carolyn and family, Dottie and James.......we know that God's love and peace will comfort you always and we pray for an insurmountable portion to be bestowed in your lives at this very difficult time. We love and miss you all.

Carolyn, my heart breaks for you in the home-going of Donnie. It seems only yesterday y'all were young teens dating... then marriage ... the birth of your children and grandchildren to the blessed joy of loving great grandchildren.

Time has flown so fast for our generation to be oldest. Our families are blessed to be children of our sweet Lord and Savior.... and be serving Him through the years.

As our hearts know, one day all of us cousins, will gather once again in Heaven and have one wonderful, loving family reunion with our loved ones gone on.... with no more tears and no more diseases.

Heaven grows more precious daily as we cope with the separation of our loved ones who have gone home.

Prayers and loving hugs to you and your family,
Dewayne and Barbara Jane

I will never forget my uncle. He always made me laugh by calling me "bones" and talking like Donald Duck. He was so special and I'll miss him.

My brother Don was my hero in so many ways. I always admired his strength and loyalty to his Creator and family. His life values were exceptional and he tried to live by these standards. I will miss him so very much. I give praise to our Lord because I know we will meet again one day. The promises from God's word to his children can never be broken. So BROTHER I will see you soon. I love you
