December 19, 1969, my daughter’s birthday. Don was a pediatric resident in Brook Army Medical Center in San Antonio and he was the attending physician at her birth. I shall always remember Don with fondness on this date.

I just heard the sad news yesterday, and it broke my heart. He was my the pediatrician for my sons and daughter, but I think he took even better care of me, the textbook 'neurotic parent' : I lived in Schertz, but I think I would have driven my babies to Dallas to be under his care. I am so thankful for how well he cared for my babies, and though I only knew him as their doctor, I loved him like he was family. I cried like a baby when he retired, and I'm crying now typing this. 'The Great Physician' has called one of his finest home. My sincerest heartfelt condolences to his family and friends. He was a great man!

Dr. Hilliard was Nicholas' pediatrician for 7yrs, he loved his visits with his favorite Doc as he called him, on the drive to the office he would always say I wonder what he's going to see in my ear or hear in my stomach today...We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Im am so sorry for your loss. Donald Hilliard was my children pediatrician, and we loved him dearly. We will remember him always. My family will be praying for ya'll.

My daughter and son were some of Dr. Hillard's first patients at Child Care Associates. He was truly a kind and loving person and we were blessed to have him take care of our children who now are grown and have children of their own.

My family and I know him as Dr. Hilliard. He saw three generations in our family. I am the youngest of three sisters. My mother recalls when she first took my middle sister to the practice. She also remembers when Dr. Hilliard first started at Child Care Associates. Dr. Hilliard, since then, has seen 10 children, 1 who is deceased Kimberly N. Barragan and 1 child of one of the 10. Dr. Hilliard will be greatly missed.

Dear Hilliard Family, I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Dr Hilliard. He was my pediatrician when I was a little girl. I grew to know him as an adult over the last ten years as he has been my three sons' Dr as well. He was one of a kind. I have so many stories of him helping our family. Last year we moved a couple of hours away from San Antonio. My asthmatic son had a sudden illness pop up over night. I knew he had contracted the highly contagious H1N1 virus. The local Dr wouldn't test so I packed my son in the car and took him to Dr Hilliard. The test came back positive and Dr Hilliard told me as he had many times before, "the mother is always right". My boys always laughed at Dr. Hilliard seeing Elmo in their ear or hearing a bunny in their chest. He will always be remembered in our family. Deepest Sympathies,

dr. hilliard was my pediatrician as a child. he was the best one there was i just wish when i have children i can find a pediatritian as awesome and caring as he was. he will be greatly missed but always in our hearts

Dr. Hillard you were the most caring and patience doctor I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. I thank you for caring for my son for 15 years. You will be truly missed.

I will miss my cowboy doctor and Spurs fan. He was a great doctor who put both my parents and me at ease. When I was losing my grandma almost 3 years ago he told me "we all have to go sometime, we can't all be here forever." I am 9 years old now he was my doctor. He was a kind man.We are saddened to hear of his passing. You will be in our prayers.

Dr. Hilliard was my two children's pediatrician in the late 70's and early 80's. They are now grown up and in other places, but our family has never forgotten Dr. Hilliard's gentle manner, his kindness, and his quiet competence. My children remember him fondly, and his is part of our early memories as a family. What a thoroughly nice man he was. I extend my sincere condolences to his family.

I am devistated. I have known you since I was five... I am 39 now.. you were my pediatrician and my children... saving even my son Michael's life when he was 2... I will never forget you.. I graduated from Nursing School this last year, and you are what kept me going because I just wanted to tell you that I had made it and I graduated and when I did at your retirement party you were so proud of me, you were the only person that I really wanted to know. I didn't even call my family... I loved you with all my heart. Thank you for being a part of my life and my children's, and thank you for sharing your life also with me.

/Dear Mrs. Hilliard, Although I do not know you, or your children, I would like to express to you the love and respect for your late husband. He was my childrens Doctor, for many years. All four of my chilren went to him,and most of my 12 grandchilren. Dr. Hilliard was the finest Doctor I have ever known. When my second son was 20 months old, he choked on peanuts. The next morning we rushed to see him, he sent us to x-ray, and then to the Santa Rosa. There we met with the surgeon, and he told us what he was to do. A long story short, he made it through the surgery, and every day for 13 days in intensive care, Doctor Hilliard made a visit to my son. It was a personal visit to us, and it was the most comforting visits. When we went home, we lived in Seguin, he called me everyday long distance and talked to me and gave me advice for Casey. You know, he never charged me a penny for the visits. This story could go on and on about how he was with each of my children, but I am sure you know how wonderful he was. I just had to tell you, how we feel about him. All of my kids were very distraught when they heard the news. Even my 12 year old grand daughter, started crying when she heard. He was wonderful. I am so happy that we had him in our lives. And I feel that he really saved my sons life, as well as many others, I am sure. I will pray for you as you morn the death of such a great man. Dr. Hilliard was my doctor when I was a child. I remember going to him until I had my first child. My daughter was also seen by him. He was a gentle soul that cared deeply about his patients, they were like his own children. He will truly be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers go out the his family and friends.

Dr. Hilliard was always so caring and very attentive to my daughter who has special needs. His compassion and friendliness made me and my daughter so thankful to have such a wonderful doctor I and my husband will never forget his kindness.

There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time. My condolences to Dr. Hilliard's family. He was my daughter's pediatrician until he told us she was too old to continue being his patient. I remember such disappointment at that time. He was kind and gentle and had an abundance of patience. How blessed we were by him to provide our daughter's health care. We will remember you all in our prayers.

I just want to thank you Dr.Hilliard for being such a great Dr. to my daughter. I knew she was always in good hands with you,and now you are in good hands with the lord. You will be missed and no one can ever take your place.

Dr. Hilliard was one of the most wonderful doctors I have ever known. He treated my children and later my grandchildren,and he was the kind of caring doctor everyone wishes for. Two years ago my daughter took her newborn in and he sent her off for tests, but told her to come back when she was finished so he could give her the results. She went back about 6:00 after the office was closed and there he was waiting for her to send her off to the hospital to admit her daughter for surgery. She said he was the only one there and he spent time reassuring her everything would be fine. I think of him often, miss him taking care of my grandchildren and am so glad he was a part of my family's lives. So many times since he retired, when my grandkids were sick, someone would say how much we wish Dr. Hilliard was still there to take care of them. There is no one like him and he cannot be replaced!! My prayers are with you.

I am saddened to hear the loss of such a wonderful man and doctor. Dr. Hilliard was my pediatrician for many years and I am thankful for all the care he provided in that time. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Please accept our condolences. Dr. Hilliard took exceptional care of my daughter for the past 21 years. He was so kind, gentle and funny. Staci last saw him in December to get up dated on shots before she started nursing school. He gave her some good, sound advice with plenty of humor. We will deeply miss him and will keep him in our prayers.
