Don caringly treated children for more than 37 years at Child Care Associates in San Antonio. He served in the US Army Medical Corps and was honorably discharged in 1973.
He received his M.D. from the University of Texas Southwest Medical School in Dallas, Texas. Don was a member of the Texas Medical Association, Bexar County Medical Association and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He was a Scout Master in Lawton, Oklahoma and San Antonio, from 1967 to 1975.
Don retired from practice in January 2010 to enjoy the lovely hill country home he and his wife, Nell, had settled into.
You could always find him with a book in hand, usually a history or mystery and when the Spurs played, nothing else was important while the game was on.
He is preceded in death by his father, Wade Hilliard and mother, Christy Mortimer.
He is survived by his wife, Nell Segel Hilliard; sons: Marty and Mark Krueger; daughter, Kim Lyssy; grandchildren: Tyler, Alexander, Alyson, Lauren, Zachary and Joseph; his sister, Jean Roach; nieces, Joanna Francisco and Julie Riggins; and numerous other family members.
