He was born on June 22, 1934 in Columbus, Texas to Edna Ripple and Hilmar Krause.
He graduated from Yoakum High School, Rice University and the University of Texas Law School.
He served in the United States Air Force and attained the rank of Captain.
Donald was an attorney and Vice President for the Thoroughbred Racing Protective Bureau, headquartered in Maryland.
His sister, Dolores Rollins, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his brother, William "Bill" Krause and his wife, Jane of San Antonio, and their children, Gary Krause of Austin, Keith Krause of Orlando, FL, and Janet Beaudoin and her husband, Rick of Adamstown, MD; brother-in-law, James Rollins of Victoria, and his children, Paul Rollins of San Antonio, and Ned Rollins and his wife, Vicki of Olive Branch, MS; grandnephews and grandnieces, Richie, Clark, and Lauren Beaudoin, and Lannie Rollins.
