Donald Dean Mueller was called home on February 11, 2011 where he will be reunited with Joan Lillian Mueller, his wife of 52 years. He was born in Humboldt, Kansas on November 9, 1930. He grew up in a dairy farming family and he would frequently return to the home place. When he wasn't visiting the farm he enjoyed gardening and working in his yard. He proudly served in the Air Force for 20 years including assignments in Germany and Okinawa as well as multiple locations within the U.S. When he retired the family returned to San Antonio and have lived here for 40 years.
He is survived by his five children: Dana, David, Denise, John, and Jan, and his nine grandchildren. During his golden years he has been a devoted grandfather, attending their events and parties, and a willing servant. Through Meals on Wheels, Neighborhood watch, or as a skilled handyman he could always be counted on to touch your life. We will miss him.
Visitation will be 7-9:00 pm on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 am on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 308 Mt. Calvary, SATX 78209. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fisher House, 3623 George C. Beach, Ft. Sam Houston, TX 78234-5000.
