

SMSgt. Donald Richard Rupp Sr., USAF (ret.), age 86, passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 in San Antonio. Don was born in Erie, Pennsylvania to Raymond and Alice Rupp on July 20, 1931. After graduating from Technical Memorial High School, Don joined the United States Air Force, where he served our country for 26 years. During his time in the military he served as an airplane mechanic, flight engineer, a pistol shooting instructor and competitor where he and his team still hold a world pistol record. Additionally, Don was an alternate on the 1968 US Olympic pistol team. His dedication to country and state continued as a coach and mentor to the United States Air Force Pistol Team and the Texas State Junior Pistol team. Don also enjoyed flying, ranching and motorcycling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Alice Rupp; brother, William Rupp; sisters, June Schad and Dorothy Campbell; and ex-wife Joan Rupp. Don is survived by his loving partner of 29 years,
Wendy McGrath; daughters, Denise French, Janet Steenberge (Patrick), Donna Mitchell (Gregory), and Diane Rupp; sons, James Rupp, Donald Richard Rupp Jr., and John Rupp (Kelly); numerous grandchildren and one great grandchild.
