Donald Eugene Smith

He is survived by his loving wife, Monnie Joyce Smith; son, Scott Smith; three stepchildren, Ron Grantham, Kim Grantham and Jennifer Ellis; granddaughters, Audrey Smith and Amber Hill; two grandsons, Zac and Sam Grantham; one great-granddaughter, Cypris Jade Hill.

Mr. Smith was one of the first recruited Kelly Field workers to be assigned to the technical detachment at Burtonwood Repair Depot in Warrington, England, code named "Station X". Upon his return to the U.S.A., he was inducted in the Army and served in the South Pacific area from June 1944 to May 1946. After completion of his active military duties, he resumed his Civil Service career as Chief of the Overhead Engineering Section in the Directorate of Maintenance.

Mr. Smith retired from Kelly A.F.B., Texas in 1974 after 33 years of service. Mr. Smith was a loved friend and well known artist in the San Antonio art community and helped maintain a gallery in La Villita for many years.

Private interment in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
